Watch: Eric Prydz Drops Pryda Remix of 2009 Cirez D Single at Vh1 Supersonic

02.14.2017

Eric Prydz is a man of many faces, and by no means are they mutually exclusive. The Swedish progressive house icon premiered a Pryda remix of a 2009 single he released under his Cirez D moniker during his performance at Vh1 Supersonic in Pune, India this past weekend.

Unlike more mainstream DJs and producers, Prydz doesn’t typically announce new music when debuting it live in favor of letting his diehard fan base identify new IDs themselves. He broke character somewhat for the Pryda remix of “On Off” by tweeting the following:

To clarify things for the uninitiated, Prydz regularly releases music not only under his birth name, but via his Pryda and Cirez D artist projects as well. Where he usually reserves Cirez D for techno, his style has evolved to the point that Eric the other two brands have virtually become interchangeable in recent years.

In the case of “On Off,” in any event, the source material was markedly more melodic than the dark, driving techno that now defines the Cirez D sound. As can be gleaned from the recording, the updated version goes even heavier on the high end by incorporating a strings section that soars over the existing bass line.

As Prydz tweeted, the Pryda remix of “On Off” will arrive by way of his own Mouseville Records artist label. An official release date has not yet been disclosed.
