Free Download: Henry Krinkle and Secret Hideout Sample Kelly Rowland for “Good Intentions”

02.07.2017

Henry Krinkle knows a thing or two about intelligent, artful house music, and his latest endeavor does not disappoint. The Los Angeles-based DJ and producer teamed up with Secret Hideout on a track titled “Good Intentions” which is available as a free download via SoundCloud.

“Good Intentions” is built around a vocal sample from “Stole” by Kelly Rowland, but the unconventional arrangement is what truly sets the single apart. Rowland’s chopped-up verse is accompanied by little more than percussive elements for the first half of the track, before a soothing bass line and lounge-friendly melody find their way into the poignant aural bouquet.

While perhaps best known for his 2014 breakout single, “Stay” (which catapulted into the airwaves when Dirtybird Records mainstay Justin Martin remixed it), Krinkle has garnered a dedicated following for his sincere approach to house music over the past several years. While his more recent releases have yet to garner the same level of attention, much of his recent music is arguably just as deserving.

Being that the resurgence of more sophisticated styles of electronic music has hardly slowed down in 2017, Henry Krinkle’s lucid take on house ought to resonate with more ears than ever. After listening to what he and Secret Hideout have turned out in the form of “Good Intentions,” fans of this style ought to keep an ear out for what either artist delivers in the months to follow.
