Listen: Cory Simpson Delivers a Driving Techno Mix for Minimal Sessions 39

02.14.2017

The best of what dance music has to offer typically lies under the surface, and only the right kind of selector can take you there. Cory Simpson plays just such a role in the techno scene of Seattle, Washington, and what he’s delivered for the latest installment of Minimal Sessions sees him in rare form.

Simpson told djbios that after Tyler Rouse of Minimal Sessions asked him to put together a mix, he recorded it in a single take one morning. It transitions seamlessly through the minimal house and techno spectrum, featuring tracks by the likes of John Tejada, Philippe Petit, Adam Marshall, UBX127 and Andres Zacco.

Minimal Sessions is an event promoter and record label based in L.A. that was founded by Rouse and Matthew “Shmitty” Smit in 2016. Their inaugural release was a compilation of singles by artists including DurtysoxxxBritton and Brennen Grey – in addition to Rouse and Smit themselves.

Techno enthusiasts of the Pacific Northwest can catch a live set by Cory Simpson at this week’s edition of DEPTH at Club Countour in Seattle, which takes place tomorrow, Wednesday the 15th. Until then, what he’s offered up for Minimal Sessions 39 ought to whet your appetite for nocturnal festivities.
